Pearl Jam Celebrating 20 Years As A Band
The Seattle based band Pearl Jam has been celebrating their 20th anniversary as a band this year. The kings of grunge will host and play a Labor Day weekend concert in East Troy, Wisconsin at the Alpine Valley Music Theater. The concert will also feature other great bands like The Strokes, Mudhoney, and Queens Of The Stone Age. After the Labor Day festival, Pearl Jam will embark on a Canadian Tour.
Pearl Jam will also release a feature film called Pearl Jam Twenty in September. This documentary style film will show the journey of the band for the last twenty years. Told by Academy Award Winner Cameron Crowe, the film will offer never before seen footage and interviews with the band. The film will first be released in select cities. On October 21st, the documentary will be aired on PBS as part of their “American Masters” series. The film should prove to be extremely entertaining for Pearl Jam fans and general viewing audiences alike.
The band will also be releasing a Pearl Jam Twenty soundtrack and book simultaneously with the release of the film. Pearl Jam is currently working on recording their next studio album. They have been one of the most successful bands in the world and continue to carry one of the most loyal fan bases of any band.
It is hard to believe that Pearl Jam has been together for 20 years. Not only have they been together, they continue to make great music. 2011 should continue to be a great year for the band and all of their fans.
